Melek Pulatkonak embarked on an international career after graduating from the Austrian Sankt George Kolleg in Istanbul. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and earned an M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

Melek has extensive strategy, business development and research experience in Turkey and in the U.S. In Turkey, she held the position of advisor to the Board of Directors of Ata Online, the leading online brokerage firm. Prior to that assignment she served as advisor to the Chairman of the Istanbul Stock Exchange. In New York, she worked at the New York Stock Exchange where she has published some of her work. Most recently, Melek established and managed her own niche-consulting firm based in New York City. She joined SVG in early 2003.

Melek is an active Board Member of the Turkish-American Business Forum, a member of the Education Board at the American Turkish Society and holds a management position at the Columbia Business School Alumni Club.

She is fluent in English, Turkish and German.
